Dr. Anita Jacobson is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and has worked as a pharmacist in a variety of patient care settings for over 20 years. She is the Principal Investigator of the Community First Responder Program which is funded by a Rural Opioid Technical Assistance grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Dr Jacobson’s main area of service and research is in the area of substance use disorder outreach to rural and vulnerable populations. She is a course instructor for the College of Health Sciences in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and the College of Nursing in the undergraduate Community Health curriculum. She delivers didactic and experiential content in the Doctor of Pharmacy program on the topics of pediatric mental health, cultural sensitivity and health disparities, motivational interviewing, and healthcare leadership and policy.
Dr Jacobson’s clinical practice site is Eleanor Slater Hospital, which is part of the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals. She is a Past President of the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association and currently serves as a member of the Board of Pharmacy at the Rhode Island Department of Health.
